A 50-year-old man was fatally shot in an apartment parking lot, Washington officials said.

Deputies with the King County Sheriff’s Office responded Thursday, Jan. 25, to an apartment complex in Renton and found the man dead in the parking lot, according to a Facebook post by the department.

After investigating, deputies determined the man was delivering packages to the building the night before when he was involved in a fight that led to the shooting, officials said.

Police believe this was a targeted incident, officers said. Officers didn’t specify what kind of altercation led to the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 206-263-2090, according to the release.

Renton is about 10 miles southeast of Seattle.
