Powerball player just misses $398 million jackpot — but still wins big in Washington
A Powerball ticket sold in Washington won $50,000 but just missed the $398 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Monday, March 17, Washington’s Lottery said.
The winning ticket was sold at a QFC grocery store in Mukilteo, which is about a 25-mile drive north from Seattle, lottery officials said.
Tickets sold in Pennsylvania and Colorado won $1 million in the drawing.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $416 million, with a cash value of about $194.1 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, March 19, the national Powerball site said.
The winning numbers were 11, 18, 23, 38 and 60, with a Powerball of 9, the lottery said. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
More than 505,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won Jan. 18, when an Oregon player hit the $329 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
