Man in fake Walmart uniform breaks into store to get ‘more beer,’ WA cops say
A man pretending to be a Walmart worker broke into a store to get “more beer,” Washington deputies said.
The 47-year-old was seen in a blue vest with a name tag that read “Greg” around 2:15 a.m. Oct 1 in Port Angeles, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
He went through a back entrance at Walmart and was stopped by workers who knew he wasn’t an employee, deputies said.
“The suspect took a bladed stance, attempting to provoke an altercation, before leaving the store and dropping the vest in the parking lot,” deputies said in the release.
The man left his vehicle in the parking lot and fled, so authorities said they searched the area, and then thought he may return to his car.
A deputy found him hiding near a truck entrance at the store, authorities said.
He told deputies he had been drinking and went to Walmart “to get more beer,” authorities said.
The man was arrested on a charge of second-degree burglary.
Port Angeles is about an 85-mile drive northwest from Seattle.
