Prep Notebook: Hurricanes earn all-league baseball honors

Four Mount Vernon Christian high school baseball players earned first-team all-Northwest 2B/1B League honors.

The Hurricanes recognized were Josh Feddema, Grady Woodmansee, Connor Mounts and Chase Woodmansee.

The four helped Mount Vernon Christian to the league title, a 19-2 record and a berth in the Class 2B State Tournament.

The Hurricanes are to open the state tournament against Toutle Lake at 1 p.m. Saturday at Parker-Faller Field in Yakima.

Mount Vernon Christian's Walker Wohlgemuth, Zane Dahlberg and Jake Feddema earned second-team all-league honors.

La Conner's Kaleb Otis earned a spot on the second team, while teammates Nolan Elde and Angus Poprycz earned honorable mention.

Concrete's Ayden Jolley made the second team.

Mount Vernon Christian's Andy Hanson was named league coach of the year.

Softball players honored

La Conner had four softball players earn all-Northwest 2B/1B League honors.

Dela Souryavong was named to the first team, Yamileth Ocampo Contreras made the second team, and Jade Souryavong and Katarina Edwards earned honorable mention.
