Wildfire burning north of Touchet in Walla Walla County

Firefighters from several regional departments are responding to a natural cover fire north of Touchet near Webber Canyon in Walla Walla County, a Walla Walla County Fire District No. 6 official confirmed on Friday, May 22.

The fire is near the intersection of Nelms Road and Woodward Canyon Road.

WWCFD6 Deputy Chief Rusty Waite said the fire is about 30 acres and is burning a rural area. He said no structures are currently threatened by this fire.

Waite said Walla Walla County fire district nos. 4, 6 and 8, as well as the Walla Walla and College Place fire departments have responded to the fire.

Fire District 6 covers Touchet and the surrounding areas.

Waite had no additional information on the fire as 1:40 p.m.
