The Five Spot: 5 ripping good things about your new ballot

Five reasons we’re excited about the new “I voted” perforated stub that Pierce County voters are encouraged to tear off their Feb. 13 ballots.

1 It’s inspiring to tear it and wear it on your wrist, then give a fist bump of civic solidarity to other bracelet-wearing voters.

2 It’s amusing to make color copies, wear several on your wrists, and tell people you voted multiple times.

3 It’s invigorating to lord it over lazy non-voters like you used to do by wearing “I voted” stickers — until the county auditor did away with them in 2013 to save money.

4 You can put it in spouse’s lunchbox, purse or eyeglass case as a reminder to vote. (Will even float in a latte.)

5 Heck, it’s worth trying anything to nudge Pierce County’s pathetic voter turnout back over the 30-percent Mendoza line.
