Election: Dammeier has failed record

Re: “Dammeier ready to serve as Pierce County executive” (TNT editorial, 10/1).

I was deeply dismayed that The News Tribune endorsed Bruce Dameier for county executive. Hiring Dammeier to be executive is akin to hiring a failed CEO and paying him a higher salary.

Mr. Dammier was the lead in education in Olympia for his party. Children that were in kindergarten when he made his promises to fully fund education are now nearing graduation age. The taxpayers are paying $100,000 a day in penalties due to his failure to take the hard funding votes.

He and Zieger and Stambaugh ran on the promise to fund education. False promises. Check your public disclosure records to see who is funding these candidates. Stambaugh has 44 ethics violations against her. Pretty impressive for a freshman legislator. Joyce McDonald is just padding her retirement package.

Please choose carefully. We need effective leadership. Pierce County, the 25th legislative district, and our great state deserve better. Please be a thoughtful and informed voter in November.

(Dawn Morrell was a former Washington House of Representatives, representing the 25th Legislative District)
