Council member Robert Thoms has worked hard for Northeast Tacoma since day one with passion and skill. He has always been a great partner.
He worked closely with me as the Northeast Tacoma Neighborhood Council Chair/Co-Chair, the Save Northeast Tacoma group and homeowners associations to ensure the city continued the legal fight to protect the golf course from being developed.
He fought to save Kobetich Library, he pushed Pierce Transit to restore cuts to the bus route in NE Tacoma, and he put funding in the budget for a new fire station in the nearby Tideflats to ensure it can focus on Northeast Tacoma.
He supports the development of a Tideflats Subarea Plan that will ensure residents a strong voice in how industrial projects will affect them.
He volunteers to help us clean up Julia’s Gulch and local parks, and he knows Northeast Tacoma from helping us get needed crosswalks and working on sidewalks and listening to residents in community meetings and small-group discussions.
Thoms has an effective approach to accomplishing goals in the public arena. He gets results.
