Drugs: Calling injection sites ‘safe’ is a misnomer

Re: “Safe sites for drug use should be reconsidered,” (TNT, 4/16).

I have two questions for the authors of this op-ed promoting so-called “safe consumption sites.”

1. How can the authors use the word “safe” to describe an activity that will kill you?

2. What is the message that we give to our children? “It’s OK, Johnny and Mary! They’re shooting up at a ‘safe’ injection site.”
