Northeast Tacoma: Noise goes with the territory
Re: “We can’t sleep,” (TNT, 6/27).
I find it amazing that some people choose to live in areas that are traditionally noisy, such as industrial or urban areas, near train tracks and airports, and in flight paths of military airplanes.
These areas have most often been there for decades before people located nearby. Some people want more regulations to make the area quieter.
It seems like it would make more sense if they relocated to a quieter area.
We live in an urban area near the Port of Tacoma so also hear noise of industry, trains and planes. It is just a part of urban living and can be mitigated only to a degree which does not destroy or disrupt industrial operations.
