Supreme Court: It’s not grotesque to want balance
Re: “Trump’s Supreme pick checks all the right boxes,” (TNT, 7/11).
Jay Ambrose’s disingenuous op-ed at its heart tries to tell conservatives that Democrats are unfair, unconstitutional and “hysterically” “grotesque.”
How good it would be if a columnist toned down the rhetoric and turned up facts, logic and objectivity.
Yes, progressives are unhappy that the current president will have two judicial appointments to the highest court in the land in under two years, and determine the character of the court for a generation.
Especially after Republicans, in an unprecedented act of party-over-principle, denied the former president his choice, although he had nearly 11 months left to serve.
The Democrats are not critical of Judge Kavanaugh’s credentials; their fight has to do with what they consider a fair balance.
Ambrose also sows discord when he suggests that the left is ideological and the right is constitutional.
He is trying to divide us; not to say he disagrees, but to say whoever disagrees with him is in favor of “ideological idiocies.” Shame on him.
