Fort Nisqually: Show respectfor graveyard
I live in DuPont, next to the old Fort Nisqually grounds and I need to address a hypocrisy: Why is Fort Nisqually preserved and revered, while the graveyard is left to grow over and fall apart in disrespect?
I have lived here for three years and the disregard and disrespect for that part of the Fort’s history displays the Fort Nisqually Foundation’s true indifference for its history. They seem to have more concern for the superficial display and carnival-like attitude. If the Fort was moved and preserved, and the original grounds are fenced in and blocked off, the Nisqually Foundation should take some responsibility for maintaining the graves of those who were actually there.
