Helsinki summit: Trump speeches need warning label

President Trump’s recent faux pas — that being his meeting with Vladimir Putin — just goes to prove what I’ve always believed about our commander in chief:

“Never believe what you think he said, because what you heard is not what he meant.”

Trouble is, our European allies, and most of the American people (sans Trump’s basest supporters), tend to think a U.S. president should be capable of saying exactly what he means the first time, without having to hold additional press conferences to “clarify” what he meant.

I think our foreign policy, and all speeches involving Trump (sans Trump rallies), need to carry the following addendum:

“We know you may think you understood the words that you just heard, but what you may not understand is that those words are not what the president meant, and all will be further explained after the ratings are in”.
