Virus: First local death has big impact

Re: “First COVID-19 death in Pierce County; patient had health issues,” (TNT, 3/19).

This is the fear I am personally facing. The woman who died was in her 50s; I’m 52. She had underlying health conditions; I have asthma, just like 600,000 other people in Washington state.

She was a mom, active with her kids’ activities and a community volunteer – just like me.I’m certain she left a very big hole in the lives of her family and friends.

Nobody should trivialize the risk of this virus to our communities, because now it’s personal.
