A grand entrance for The Port of Tacoma

On a recent Port of Tacoma sponsored boat tour I was elated to see significant changes. The Port was mostly free of debris, derelict boats, rusty machinery and decaying buildings. The docks were in good repair, and they’re more environmentally friendly.

One thing I did not see, however, was a defined welcoming portal for ships and pleasure craft

So, a suggestion: To herald our port, we should develop a proper portal — replete with a highly visible sign, flagpole and artistic sculpture. This structure would quickly become a beacon for ships and small craft, helping to introduce the Port of Tacoma to its many visitors..

Imagine a classy entry with Mount Rainier in the background — a postcard picture, for sure. Looking at a map, there’s even an ideal location for such a portal: right at the mouth of the Puyallup River, where it extends out into Commencement Bay, there’s a piece of land that would be perfect.

Like the old paper mill, the portal would be visible for miles.

Let’s show the world how proud we are of our Port of Tacoma.

Marijuana is a gateway drug

As each new day progresses the failure to project the consequences of our decisions is threatening to destroy our trust in government, family relationships, the lives of our children and the security of our country.

Introducing legalized marijuana into communities has had a predictable effect — including in Washington: Drug addiction has gone up, homelessness has increased, and so has crime, while farmland formerly reserved for traditional agriculture has been transformed into a place to grow marijuana, replacing formerly peaceful communities.

When we defend the right of people to buy and use drugs without regulations and control all aspects of society are under attack. Logic and common sense disappear. Greed takes over, drug cartels flood our cities and we have no one to blame but ourselves.

Marijuana is a gateway drug to other more potent drugs that trap people into addiction.

Every school should have assemblies warning children that they are being targeted.

They’re being brainwashed to think drugs are harmless — but those who sell them are not their friends.

Time to impeach Biden

Recently, The New York Times reported that many Republicans believe there is a two-tiered justice system in the United States. Proof? Just look at the discrepancy in treatment between those charged in relation to Black Lives Matter-related riots and the treatment of President Trump and his supporters in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

There were surely thousands more criminal acts by BLM protesters compared to what President Trump and his supporters are accused of.

It’s total nonsense.

The New York Times and other leftist outlets also reported there is no evidence that President Biden personally profited from his son’s business dealings. Where have they been?

This double standard of justice — and the unethical conduct by Congressional Democrats — needs to be exposed.

It’s long past time to get to the truth.

It’s time to start an impeachment inquiry.
