FIRCREST: Let voters decide on prohibition

We have lived in Fircrest for more than 60 years and have enjoyed the community feel. There was a time when the Manley’s shopping center was where Fircrest residents collected, shopped, socialized and become better neighbors. That has not been the case for many years, and it is sad that Fircrest does not have similar gathering places.

Not that serving liquor will be the answer to bring about this change, but it seems to work in other places like Gig Harbor, Sumner, the Proctor District and Old Town in Tacoma. So my husband and I have both signed the petition to let voters in Fircrest decide about the current prohibition on alcohol in our city.

After 40 years of this prohibition, this may be the change that can bring about businesses where Fircrest residents can again gather, socialize and become better neighbors.
