GOP: Threats only prompt a backlash

Every time the Republican-controlled Congress threatens to cut funding for Planned Parenthood, it brings out my checkbook. Whether the Republicans’ accusations are true or not, their threats to cut funding for women’s health services inflame the women in my life, and it seems the only way to extinguish that flame is to send a check to Planned Parenthood.

It makes me wonder if mainstream Republicans hide behind their anti-women ideology to pacify the extreme elements of the party while, at the same time, being personally concerned for women’s health. So they promote these attacks knowing full well that the backlash will increase charitable contributions to organizations like Planned Parenthood.

What a devious way to support a worthy cause.
