Court: McConnell should give Garland a hearing

Re: “McConnell tells Garland he won’t be considered” (thenewstribune.com, 3-16).

Would Sen. Mitch McConnell prefer a Donald Trump nominee to the Supreme Court? A Hillary Clinton nominee? He probably isn’t worried about a Bernie Sanders nominee, but in a year like this - who knows?

McConnell has had such fun obstructing everything President Obama has attempted, but has he really thought this through? He is refusing to hold a hearing on the nominee, Merrick Garland, saying “let the people decide.”

Clearly, he hopes they will decide on a Republican president, but who does his party have to offer this year?

Could McConnell himself be out of a job by the end of the year should the Senate turn Democratic? Shouldn’t McConnell at least give Garland a hearing?
