GHarbor: Tree debacle shouldn't happen again
Re: "Trees were needlessly sacrificed" (letter, 3-23).
I wanted to express my appreciation to the writer for the eloquent and measured way she addressed the Peacock Hill Road greenbelt debacle. Perhaps we should call it the Great Peacock Hill Road Tree Massacre.
I tried to write something in response to the same incident, but I got so angry, I kept reverting to words like “inept,” “greedy” and ”incompetent.” It is good to know the city and the developer must have a plan to restore and/or mitigate the results of this … "Oops!”
At the rate Gig Harbor is growing, there will be plenty more opportunities for the city to demonstrate its ability to preserve our quality of life and “small-town character.”
