Running: 90 is not the limit, age wise

Nineteen years ago when I was 65, I completed my last 50-mile run in Tacoma in 8 hours and 35 minutes. The News Tribune covered this event with the headline, "65 is not the limit."

Now I am 84 and planning to run another 26.2-mile marathon when I turn 90. If the paper covers this event, I would suggest a new headline, "90 is not the limit."

I share stories of my running and my work late at night helping people through a program called Operation Nightwatch, which includes 16 years I spent in Tacoma. It's all in my recently published memoir, "Violence, Homelessness and Running," available at parsonsporch.com
