Elections: Dammeier stands out for county executive

Bruce Dammeier is the most qualified candidate for Pierce County executive. I know Bruce as a fellow Navy veteran who attended the Naval Academy and honorably served. Returning to his Pierce County roots, he entered the business world and raised a family. As host to JBLM, we need leaders who understand the needs of military communities.

I know Bruce as an advocate for the disadvantaged. We served together on the Goodwill board. As chair, Bruce worked to provide job training and placement to thousands of individuals with disabilities and disadvantages, always distinguishing between empowering and enabling. We joined other Rotary Club members tutoring in some of Pierce County’s most challenged schools. Bruce led that effort.

As Lakewood mayor, I collaborated with Sen. Dammeier. He worked for real-world solutions including improvements to Highway 167 and I-5, mitigating lengthy commutes and improving freight mobility. He offered innovative solutions to more equitably fund schools, which would have cut property taxes for many homeowners. He is a co-owner of a business that has created more than 100 family wage jobs.

Veteran. Humanitarian. Businessman. Public Servant. Bruce Dammeier is clearly the most qualified candidate.
