I’ve been doing my best to disengage from the clown car that is this year’s presidential race. I’d much rather enjoy my life. But I’ve seen snippets of both conventions. My two observations:
The instantly recognizable difference between both conventions is that one has class. And more importantly, decorum. The GOP appears to have flushed both down the commode.
Paul Simon played “Bridge Over Troubled Water” at the DNC convention. I recall when I was a youth, “Let it Be” was also on the AM radio playlist in 1970. A local DJ commented one day that with all the craziness of that time: Vietnam, Kent State, racial tension and drugs, Simon and McCartney came out with songs to calm us.
Once again, Simon’s song has the same message for us.
