Expect closures and delays on Murray Morgan Bridge and several Tacoma streets early Saturday as nearly 1,000 people participate in Santa Runs Tacoma.
Portions of streets will be closed 6 a.m. to12:30 p.m. for the race, which will start at A and 10th streets and finish on Dock Street.
The eighth Santa Runs Tacoma has three race distances: 5 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and a half-marathon (13.1 miles).
Streets closed for the race will include the start area (6 to 9:30 a.m.), East D, E and F streets near the port (8:30 to 9:30 a.m.), Dock Street (8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), Schuster Parkway (9:10 a.m. to noon) and Ruston Way (9:20 to 11:45 a.m.).
The race is the last of the year staged by the Tacoma City Marathon Association. It is the final race in the Crown of the Sound Series, a series for those who compete in at least three of the association’s four half-marathons.
Participants earn scores based on their results in the Santa Runs Tacoma, St. Paddy’s Day, Tacoma City and Tacoma Narrows half-marathons. Entering Saturday’s race, 38 women and 28 men had met the race minimum.
