Cancer claims former Olympic National Park acting assistant superintendent

Terrence Douglas Hofstra, a former acting assistant superintendent at Olympic National Park, died June 3, according to a statement the National Park Service posted on its website on July 7.

Hofstra, who was 66, was battling cancer. He retired in 2010 after 39 years including 30 years at Redwood National Park.

In 2008, he was awarded the Department of the Interior’s Meritorious Service Award in recognition of his long career with the NPS.

Terry is survived by his wife, Marilyn, daughters Krystyna and Amanda, his mother Mary Ann and his brother Gordon. A celebration of Hofstra is scheduled for July 20 in Arcata, California.
