Work on Rainier road project to pause for Labor Day weekend

Construction on the road to Longmire at Mount Rainier National Park will take a bit of a break for the upcoming holiday weekend.

Construction will be halted on Friday, Aug. 29, and Monday, Sept. 1, because of the Labor Day weekend, according to a statement released by the park. However, visitors could still face short delays on Aug. 29.

The road work is part of a two-year upgrade to the road. Crews don’t work on the road on weekends. During Aug 25-28, park officials recommend allow for 30 minute delays between 8:15 a.m. and 6 p.m.
