There’s still 7 ½ months left to train for the 34th Capital City Marathon, but registration opens Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Registration for the marathon is $70, the half marathon is $60 and the 5-mile race is $30 through Oct. 5. The prices increase to $80, $70 and $35 respectively on Oct. 6.
"We are looking forward to another fantastic event next year," race director Nona Snell said in a prepared statement. "We recognize that running races is not inexpensive, so this year we decided to offer a discounted rate to those who commit to the race early."
The race, the South Sound’s oldest marathon, is scheduled for May 17, 2015.

The course will be recertified this fall by USA Track and Field. "We are considering minor changes to the course and hope to announce a final decision about them before the end of the year," Snell said.
The course was due for recertification this year , but past champion Gary Cooper was among a small group of runners who contend the course is actually longer than 26.2 miles.
