The Cross Revolution (formerly Seattle Cyclocross) will hold its third of six races Sunday at Sprinker Recreation Center in Spanaway.
The booming sport of cyclocross requires racers to carry their bikes over obstacles and race on surfaces ranging from asphalt to grass, mud and dirt. While most competitors use bikes specifically designed for this sport, first-timers often sample the sport on mountain bikes.
The race at Sprinker Recreation Center raises money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The first race starts at 9:15 a.m. Last race starts at 2:35 p.m. Entry is $15-30 depending on race. The event is free to watch.
Participants can register at the event. Registration closes 20 minutes before the start of each race. While there will be eight start times, 28 races will be conducted, some simultaneously. In addition to multi-speed cross race, there will be single speed races and junior and kids races. Competitors in the series accumulate points toward the season title. The series continues Nov. 16 at Graham’s Frontier Park and Nov. 23 in Enumclaw.
