Former Grand Coulee Dam ranger to retire after 34 years with NPS

The former Grand Coulee Dam ranger known as Ranger Ray plans to retire Dec. 31 after 34 years with the National Park Service, the NPS announced Wednesday via its website.

Raymond Klein is the chief ranger at Arizona’s Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument. He career started in 1978 at Great Smoky Mountains National Park and included 14 seasonal park ranger posts, including a stint at Grand Coulee Dam in the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.

Klein and his wife, Joanie, plan to stay in southern Utah.
