Crystal Plans to open Green Valley Saturday for skiing, snowboarding

Crystal Mountain plans to open Green Valley for skiing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, for what it’s calling the Pineapple Shakedown.

The name is reference to the Pineapple Express – the warm weather that’s plaguing Northwest ski areas. The ski area will offer discounts to those who bring canned pineapple ($10 of the $35 liftickets). The pineapple will be donated to a local food bank.

Pineapples will also be hidden around the resort. Find them for a chance to win prizes such as a season pass.

Find the big kahuna and you could win a season pass, along with other prizes.

Crystal Mountain, which didn’t open last weekend, has received two inches of snow since Tuesday and the forecast calls for more snow this week before the return of warmer temperatures on Sunday.

White Pass plans to begin daily operations Saturday. The Summit at Snoqualmie still has grass visible on some of its slopes, but season pass holders can use the passes for access to Crystal Mountain.
