A bike ride starting in Arlington on March 15 will raise funds for a community trail and will honor the people impacted by last year’s Oso mudslide.
The McClinchy Mile Oso Strong Ride offers routes of 34 and 56 miles and proceeds from the event, organized by the BIKES club of Snohomish County, will go toward the Whitehorse Trail and local bike tourism. Some community members have stated that bike tourism could benefit the local community, which saw tourism drop last year after the mudslide.
The rides will travel on State Route 530 through the mudslide area. Food stops are planned in Oso and Darrington. Registration is $30 and the first 200 to sign up get an Oso Strong coffee mug. The fee increases by $5 on the morning of the ride.
