Snowboard Jam coming to Stevens Pass Saturday

Volcom’s Peanut Butter and Rail Jam contest series is coming to Stevens Pass Saturday. The event is for young amateur snowboarders, who will be judged on the tricks they land on three rail/box features.

There will be four divisions: 15 and younger, 16-21, girls and open. Competitors under 18 must have a waiver signed by a legal guardian.

The top five competitors in each of the four divisions will then compete in the $15,000 PBRJ Global Championships at Mammoth Mountain, California, on April 18.

Free food, free drinks and giveaways will be provided for competitors and spectators.

The Jam is one of three contest series that make up Volcom’s “Let the Kids Ride Free” movement. The events enable young snowboarders to gain contest experience, showcase their talents, win prizes and have fun.

Registration for the free event begins at 8 a.m. in the Pacific Crest Lodge. The action begins at 10 a.m. The awards ceremony will be at 4 p.m.
