TACKY TIE 2-MILE
What: Metro Parks Tacoma is launching a new way to celebrate Father’s Day weekend this year with the Tacky Tie 2-mile run. Race organizers says this is similar to the ugly sweater runs that are popular around Christmastime. Windsor, half-Windsor and four-in-hand knots are all accepted. So are bow ties.
When: 9 a.m. Saturday.
Where: Jefferson Park, 801 N. Mason Ave., Tacoma.

Getting there: From state Route 16, take Exit 3 and drive east on Sixth Avenue. Turn left on Stevens Street, then right on Ninth Street and continue to the park.
Also: The race is chip-timed. Registration closes 45 minutes before the race. Results are expected to be posted on the Metro Parks Tacoma website within 48 hours of the event’s finish. Strollers and dogs on leashes are welcome. Spray-ground hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Jefferson Park is about 15 acres.
