Add Crystal Mountain to the list of ski areas planning to open Thursday morning. Just write its name down in pencil.

“Tentatively clear your schedules for Thursday,” read an announcement posted Tuesday on the resort website.

Tuesday night’s weather will be critical to finalizing the plans for a Thursday opening. The ski area was receiving a mix of rain and snow on Tuesday evening, according to the ski area website. Crystal reported having 14 inches of snow at 6,230 feet.

“We're expecting cold temps and more snow tonight so we will re-evaluate the coverage and conditions in the morning and make a decision whether we'll be opening Green Valley on Thursday,” read the announcement.

Mt. Baker and British Columbia’s Whistler Blackcomb also plan to open Thursday.
