Model Railroad Show
WHAT: Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on activities and look at dozens of model railroad layouts. This is the 42nd year the Pacific Science Center has hosted the show.
WHEN: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 16-18.
WHERE: Pacific Science Center, 200 Second Ave. N., Seattle.
HIGHLIGHTS: Among the show’s highlights will be interactive trains where children and adults can operate the train. The Iron Horse Railway will give children the chance to ride a train under the center’s famed arches. Train layout experts will be on hand to offer advice on putting together your own layout.
AT THE IMAX THEATER: During the show, “Rocky Mountain Express” will be playing at the center’s IMAX Theater. It takes viewers on a trip aboard a present-day steam train that journeys through the Canadian Rockies, and tells the story of building Canada’s first transcontinental railroad.
AMONG THE DISPLAYS: There will be an HO-scale layout that is a representation of the 418-mile long Chihuahua Pacific Railroad that ran in Mexico. There will be a 027-scale layout with larger model trains that run on a three-track rail.
