Westport waters daily chinook limit increases to 2 on Aug. 18

Anglers in the Westport area can keep up to two chinook salmon as part of their two-salmon daily limit starting Monday, Aug.18, the Department of Fish and Wildlife announced Thursday.

Anglers are allowed to keep to chinook per day in the ocean waters of Marinas Area 2 (Westport), 3(La Push and 4 (Neah Bay).

Marina Area 1 (Ilwaco) fisherman are still limited to one chinook as part of their two-salmon limit.

Wild coho must be released in all four areas

“We’ve kept a close eye on the pace of catch in the area,” Ron Warren, the WDFW fisheries policy director, said in a prepared statement. “With sufficient quota remaining, we want to maximize the recreational fishing opportunity through the rest of the season.”
