SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) -- Freddy Fermin hit a walk-off single, as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals defeated the Tulsa Drillers 3-2 on Sunday.
Kevin Merrell scored the game-winning run after he entered the game as a pinch runner.
The Naturals tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh when Fermin hit an RBI single, bringing home D.J. Burt.
Fermin singled three times, driving home three runs in the win.
Zach Lovvorn (1-0) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Jordan Sheffield (2-3) took the loss in the Texas League game.
In the losing effort, Tulsa got contributions throughout its order, as five players recorded at least two hits. Jared Walker tripled and singled. The Drillers failed to capitalize on some good scoring chances, leaving 12 runners on base in the loss.
