XFL says goodbye, again: According to reports, the league will suspend operations permanently.
For the second time, the NFL’s spring football alternative ends operations after one season.
According to multiple sources close to the situation, the XFL will terminate all team and league employees due to the ongoing coronavirus. The league, like many other leagues around the world and country, stopped day-to-day operations on March 12 as the pandemic started to spread.
At the time, the league had been committed to reviving play in the 2021 season but plans changed between that time in mid-March to April 10.
The league was having some early success with solid television numbers and active crowds across the eight-team league including the Seattle Dragons. There were also some lighter moments, especially from the fans in Washington, D.C.
The Seattle Dragons finished 1-4 in the XFL’s West Division under head coach Jim Zorn.
