Live Updates: Follow Gregg Bell’s reporting from Seahawks-Falcons at Lumen Field

A perfect Sunday for anything in the Pacific Northwest — including the Seahawks’ second home game of the season, this NFL week-three matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

Coach Pete Carroll ended this week backing off his earlier statements quarterback Geno Smith needed to throw more and deeper down the field to open up Seattle’s offense. It enters this game last in the NFL in rushing offense. Smith entered Sunday leading the league with a completion rate of 81% — but with the NFL’s shortest throws. Smith was averaging just 8.3 yards per completion.

Hence the need to throw deeper.
