WGC-Bridgestone Invitational

This week: Thursday through Sunday, Firestone Country Club South Course, Akron, Ohio.

In the field: Puyallup’s Ryan Moore.

Third-round score: 1-under-par 69.

Position: Moore (1-over 211) is tied for 26th, 10 strokes behind co-leaders Jim Furyk and Justin Rose (9-under 201).

Recap: After posting three rounds in the 60s at Firestone South last year, Moore got his first one this week to move up the leaderboard. He chipped in from 30 feet out of the left greenside rough at the ninth hole for birdie — then nearly holed a wedge shot at No. 11 before making a tap-in birdie to reach 2 under on his round. But he gave a shot back at the par-5 16th hole, where he got stuck in the deep right rough off the tee, had to punch out and ended up missing a 9-foot putt to save par.

Tee time Sunday: 9 a.m. (PDT) off the first tee.

Barracuda Championship

This week: Thursday through Sunday, Montreaux Country Club, Reno, Nevada.

In the field: Olympia’s Andres Gonzales, University Place’s Michael and Andrew Putnam, Tacoma’s Troy Kelly and Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley.

Third-round scores: Kelly had a plus-11 in modified Stableford scoring, Stanley had a plus-9, Gonzales was plus-7, and Andrew Putnam had a minus-1.

Positions: Gonzales (plus-33) is tied for seventh, Kelly and Stanley (plus-22) are tied for 28th, and Andrew Putnan (plus-15) is tied for 60th — all trailing leader J.J. Henry (plus-41). Michael Putnam missed the cut Friday.

Recap: After back-to-back birdies at No. 3 (20-foot putt) and No. 4 (18-footer), Gonzales held the lead by himself at plus-30. But he made only one more birdie over his next 13 holes before a final birdie at the finishing par 5. … Kelly easily had his best showing in this event (six birdies), even with a bogey on the final hole (drive went out of bounds). … Stanley’s round was buoyed by an eagle-3 at the 13th hole (7-iron approach shot to 5 feet) that netted five points. … When you finish with a negative score, it means you make several more bogeys (three) than birdies (zero). At least Andrew Putnam had an eagle at No. 13 (tap-in from 23 inches).

Tee times Sunday: Andrew Putnam at 8:48 a.m. (PDT), Stanley at 11:05 a.m., Kelly at 11:25 a.m. and Gonzales at 1:15 p.m.
