Knicks Fans Worried They've Been 'Cursed' For Game 3 vs. Cavs
Knicks fans are an understandably superstitious bunch given the inexplicable ways that their franchise has been tortured through the years. So the latest "bad omen" is not exactly being received all that well.
During a recent speech in New York, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick spoke to some of President Donald Trump's supporters and tried to lead the crowd in a "Let's go Knicks!" chant. Lutnick is pretty universally despised not just by opponents of President Trump, but many apolitical people everywhere due to the allegations that he was on the infamous "Epstein Island."
"The Cavs are back"
As a result, NBA fans quickly took to X to declare that Lutnick's "endorsement" of the team is a terrible omen that they're perhaps doomed to lose the series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"CAVS ARE BACK IN THE SERIES," one user on X joked.
"I think I just found the Knicks Pride Night Curse. This is a catastrophe," wrote another.
"Cavs might win the series now..." wrote a third.
"Don't make me root for Harden, man..."
"Cavs just got new life."
"Cavs in 6 lol."
"As a lifelong Knicks fan, I can say with confidence that we don't claim Lutnick and his frequent traveler to Epstein Island miles, no thank you."
The Knicks needed a late rally to win Game 1 against the Cavaliers before clobbering them in Game 2. At 2-0 on the series, the Knicks are still prohibitive favorites to win the series. It's very rare that a team can overcome a 2-0 series deficit to win.
But between the Knicks' storied history of blowing leads in big moments and the Cavaliers' legendary NBA title win after trailing the Golden State Warriors 3-1 a decade ago, the stars do seem to be aligning more in Cleveland's favor.
That said, Cleveland needs to worry less about the stars aligning and more about the shots getting in.
Game 3 is tomorrow night.
