PACIFIC LUTHERAN (0-0)
at CALIFORNIA LUTHERAN (0-0)
7 p.m. Saturday, William Rolland Stadium, Thousand Oaks, California
The series: PLU leads, 11-9. The Lutes have won the past two meetings, including a 35-28 win last season in Puyallup.
Skinny: After capturing four consecutive SCIAC titles (2009-2012), the Kingsmen have posted back-to-back losing seasons at 4-5. And the West Coast powerhouse has seen lots of roster turnover after mining the junior-college ranks to fill in for some of its inexperience (started nine freshmen last season). CLU will have an all-new starting offensive backfield with senior quarterback Michael Butler and junior Isaac Seymour. … PLU is in the same boat, but with less returning game experience after losing 18 starters from a year ago. Look for new quarterback Jon Schaub to run a controlled passing attack in his first career start.
