GEORGE FOX (3-2, 1-1 NWC) at PUGET SOUND (2-2, 1-1)
1 p.m. Saturday, Baker Stadium, Tacoma
The series: UPS won the only meeting, which was last season, 33-14, in Newberg, Oregon.
What to watch for: You wouldn’t think a passing attack that averages 353.8 yards per game would be misfiring — but the Loggers have been a little off with dropped passes and converting third downs (2 of 30 in two conference games). It just takes one game for it all to click, which is something coach Jeff Thomas hopes happens Saturday. Having quarterback Hans Fortune (left leg) healthy helps. George Fox is in its second season of football, and has one of the conference’s workhorse running backs in John Shaffer (111 rushes, 463 yards, five touchdowns). Shaffer is running with more burst than a season ago. The Bruins give up a conference-worst 316.4 yards per game.
What’s at stake: With the Bruins this weekend, Lewis & Clark next week and PLU on Oct. 31, the Loggers could end October on a nice winning streak.
TNT pick: UPS, 30-20.
