Scouting report: Should Washington beat Bethune-Cookman, the Huskies will have nine wins. That’s the same amount as last year and there’s still more than two months left in the regular season. But don’t celebrate just yet. UW has struggled to put teams away this season as evidenced in a 80-77 win over Loyola Marymount on Sunday. The Huskies missed 12 straight shots only to build a seven-point lead that later became a three-point hole. UW coach Mike Hopkins stressed after the game the Huskies must learn to close out games. The Huskies’ average margin of victory is 7.2 points. ... As for BCU, it did keep up with Georgia Tech in a 65-62 loss on Nov. 16 in Atlanta. The Huskies and Wildcats share something in common: Kennesaw State. BCU lost 81-74 to KSU in its last game. UW thumped KSU for a 85-71 victory on Nov. 28.
