Washington Huskies’ roll call — Week 4 opponent is Colorado

With fall camp winding down, and a few media off days on the horizon, we figured this would be a good time to make a quick rundown of the UW’s 2017 opponents:

Coach: Mike MacIntyre.

2016 record: 10-4, 8-1 in Pac-12 (South).

Series with UW: The Huskies lead, 9-5-1. Dating back to 1999, the UW has won seven games in a row, including a 41-10 victory in the Pac-12 championship game last December.

Rewind: Finally, a worst-to-first story everybody appreciated. There were some dark days in Boulder before MacIntyre arrived in 2013. But with a gutsy veteran quarterback Sefo Liufau and an opportunistic defense leading the way, the Buffaloes put together what many consider the best season in school history, given where they had been. It was Colorado’s first 10-win season since 2001.

Fall camp developments: Former defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt is now at Oregon. In walks in new defensive boss D.J. Elliot, a former Wyoming linebacker who now is coaching at his ninth school. He ran a 3-4 scheme at Kentucky, which fits MacIntyre’s mold as well. Elliot will need to get unit that lost eight starters from last year up and moving quickly.
