UW basketball awards

Brandon Roy was honored as most valuable player at the Washington Huskies men's basketball banquet Wednesday night.

Roy led the Huskies in scoring and assists as they advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament and concluded their season with a 26-7 record.

Roy also won the playmaker and hustle awards and he shared the defensive player award with fellow senior Bobby Jones.

Other awards and their recipients: most improved, Jamaal Williams; top rebounder, Jon Brockman; most inspirational, Joel Smith; coaches award, Ryan Appleby; walk-on award, Brandon Burmeister; community service, Zane Potter; industrial award, Joe Wolfinger; and scholar athlete, Hans Gasser.
