Washington defensive end Greyson Gunheim is expected to miss 1-3 weeks with a knee injury suffered in a Saturday scrimmage.
Gunheim watched Monday practice in a red jersey, indicating an injury and no contact work.
Coach Tyrone Willingham would not disclose the exact nature of the injury, but said the repair would be non-surgical.
Gunheim was hurt while working with special teams. Willingham and defensive line coach Randy Hart both stressed the importance of special teams and the corresponding importance of using your best players on them.
In Gunheim's absence, Brandon Ala and Caesar Rayford will get the most work in his place.
The Huskies open the regular season Sept. 2 vs. San Jose State. Gunheim predicted he will be ready by then.
