ALmost three decades after his final game at UW, Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon contributed to another Huskies victory on Saturday.
With Washington trailing 16-0 against UCLA, Moon approached current UW quarterback Isaiah Stanback with just the words he needed to hear before leading the Dawgs to a 29-19 win at Husky Stadium.
"We were flat, including myself - I was really flat in the first half," Stanback said. "I felt like I was almost too relaxed. I didn't feel any energy from our offense at all - we were dead. Before we scored, my guy Warren Moon, he came over and said some positive stuff in my ear and I just went out there and tried to be me. I tried to get back to being me, and I tried to motivate my guys and give us a reason to be excited going into half."
Whatever Moon said worked. After managing a total of two yards of offense in the first 25 minutes, the UW offense immediately drove 92 yards for its first touchdown, which inched them back into the game 16-7 before halftime.
