UW is closer than it seemed they had any right to be for much of the half. The Huskies were down 16-0, had one first down (by penalty) and a total offense of 2 yards late in the first half. Then -- out of nowhere – the Huskies unleashed a 92-yard drive that ended with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Isaiah Stanback to Sonny Shackelford. Just that suddenly, the Huskies seem sort of back in it, and the Bruins must be kicking themselves for not taking much more advantage of UW's truly horrible start.
The problem that UW must solve is that for the second week in a row, they can't run a lick. At halftime, they have rushed for a minue-13 yards.
Total yardage is UCLA 195, UW 95, maning UW has outpassed the Bruins, 108-80 ... most of it coming on that final drive.
Individually, Kenny James is UW's leading rusher with 2 yards. Stanback has completed 7 of 13 passes for 108 yards.
UCLA's Chris Markey already has 102 rushing yards. Sophomore QB Ben Olson has completed 10 of 17.
