Junior corner back Desmond Trufant and senior kicker Erik Folk have each earned player of the week honors in the Pac 12 for their performances in Saturday's 30-27 win over Eastern Washington.
After having his struggles early, Trufant came up with the game-saving interception in the end zone with less than a minute to play, picking off a Bo Levi Mitchell pass. Trufant also added 11 tackles.
Did I expect to see him win this award? No, but it wasn't exactly a banner day for the Pac 12 defensively. At first glance at Trufant's numbers they look solid. If someone watched the game in its entirety they may have thought differently.
Folk was very deserving of this honor. He was 3-for-3 in field goals including a 53-yarder. The other kicks were from 40 and 47 - not gimmes by any stretch. He was also decent on kickoffs getting a touchback.
USC receiver Robert Woods, who caught 17 passes for 177 yards in the Trojans' win over Minnesota, earned offensive honors.
