Anybody who arrived real early today, and saw the newly-decorated "W" logo on the Husky Stadium video board could figure out what was coming right before kickoff.
The UW team has a new look.
And we are not talking black jerseys, or look-back 1970s uniform lettering or anything else alternative-based - this had more meaning.
They were sporting white helmets, with the "W" logo in the shade of the American flag - in recognition of the 10-year anniversary of Sept. 11 (which is Sunday).
It was an idea that had been kept secret all week, including closing practice Thursday so the players could wear the new helmet in action for the first time.
After that practice, UW coach Steve Sarkisian was asked if there would be anything new to the team's look, he said, "No."
Guess he had reason to fib a little bit.
Before that, the Huskies came out for pre-game warmu-ups in their normal home purple jerseys and gold helmets, then went into the locker room to switch.
